Nonzwakazi – De Aar

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Pixley Ka Seme Region held a successful Siyanqonba rally wrapping up its campaign ahead of the Ward 3 by elections scheduled for Wednesday 24 April. The Rally was held under the auspices of Sizakele Mbekushe Branch at Nonzwakazi Park and addressed by the Northern Cape ANC Chair Dr. Zamani Saul. Hundreds attended including alliance structures COSATU, SANCO and ANC leagues. The rally saw messages of support from representatives of the alliance partners.

As part of drumming up support for ANC candidate Mzingisi Mvenya the ANC addressed community gatherings also conducting door to door visits and also talking to church groupings. The stakes are a bit high as Mvenya is going up against an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) candidate Sandile Makhandula who is a former ANC Ward 3 councilor who resigned recently.

Said Saul,“During our door-to-door engagements we have heard you speak with many voices about your aspirations, concerns and frustrations. We promise that the incoming Ward Councilor will always be on his toes in order to assist you. The ANC has no time for lazy councilors who sit on their laurels and neglect their communities.”

Dr. Saul further appealed to Ward 3 voters to support Mvenya in their numbers and further support the ruling party on the provincial and national elections scheduled for 29 May 2024.

According to Dr. Saul the communities have raised issues with the ANC because they know that the organization is better placed to solve their challenges. Mzingisi Mvenya has assured voters of working with them for the betterment of their community.

As part of the campaign ANC National Executive Committee members led by Noxolo Kiviet were roped in to assist and ensure a decisive victory for Mvenya. This approach resonated with the residents, with one community member expressing appreciation for the ANC efforts. “It is encouraging that the ANC leadership is here in their numbers to listen to our problems.  This shows that the ANC has time to listen to us. We want better services and job opportunities for our youth who sometimes idle and lured to incidents of juvenile delinquency.”

Meanwhile, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has assured local voters of its 100 percent state of  readiness.  According to the IEC all 3 voting stations are secured and all staff members are well trained.
