A Sport Against Crime mini-tournament held at Merino Park Sports Stadium in Kareeville drew residents and stakeholders together in the fight against crime.
Led by Provincial Head of Proactive Policing, Brigadier Irene Kopeledi, the initiative used sport to promote unity and raise awareness. It was supported by several government departments and organisations, including Social Development, Education, Home Affairs, and the National Prosecuting Authority.
The programme included addresses from community leaders and stakeholders who stressed the importance of youth involvement in crime prevention. Netball and soccer matches formed part of the day’s activities, encouraging teamwork and positive community engagement.
District Commissioner Major General Nomana Mtukushe closed the event with a vote of thanks calling upon local communities to act against crime.
