Arthur Jantjies shocked the country by securing his win at the Totalsports Two Oceans ultra marathon. Jantjies crossed the finish line in an incredible time of 3:09:25, representing Pan African Resources Club and claimed a victory on the world’s most beautiful marathon stage.

At the age of 25, he had just won his first Two Oceans Marathon. Jantjies runs for the Kgosi Galeshewe Athletics Club in Kimberley, a community club that has been developing one of South Africa’s most exciting distance running talents.

While the country was looking elsewhere, Jantjies was putting in the work. Kilometer after kilometer. Race after race. Building himself into something special.

Many people expected stronger, more experienced Two Oceans runners like Onalenna Khonkhobe, the 2024 winner, to take the top spot, but Jantjies stayed calm and paced himself well throughout the race.
It is almost every runner’s dream to finish the Two Oceans, and winning it on your first try, especially against top athletes, is very impressive.

What made Jantjies victory special was not only the results but also how he achieved it. This was not a race won by brute force. It was a chess match played at 56km per move, and the man from Hopetown played it perfectly.
Arthur Jantjies has given his province and the country something to celebrate.
