D’ General FC emerged victorious in their arbitration case on Monday, securing three crucial points they had long anticipated. The club Managing Director Zee Leine, said with the win, they now lead their stream with 39 points, edging ahead of Bloemfontein Celtic by just one point.
The Botshabelo-based team had filed a protest against Dikgosi FC for their failure to produce identification before their ABC Motsepe league encounter, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Following the arbitration ruling, D’ General FC’s protest was upheld, granting them the sought-after points.
Looking ahead, D’ General FC is set to compete in the provincial playoffs against Mangaung Unite this upcoming weekend, with the venue yet to be announced. Reflecting on the journey to victory Leine expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
“This has been a long journey, but finally we have won the case,” Leine remarked. “We were confident in our stance, citing Safa Rule 11.2, which states that when a club fails to produce IDs, their points are forfeited regardless of whether player cards are provided or not.”
In parallel cases, Bloemfontein Celtic and Bloem Eagles also benefited from similar rulings. Celtic was awarded three points after Bfn Tigers failed to produce IDs, while Bloem Eagles secured three points against Matjhabeng FC for the same offense.
The recent arbitration decisions have not only reshaped the league standings but also underscored the importance of adherence to regulations governing fair play within the ABC Motsepe league. Source FS Online
