– Sport, Arts and Culture MEC, Mr Mangaliso Matika, handed over a brand new multi-purpose Combi Court to the community of Lekkersing in the Richtersveld Local Municipality, Namakwa District, on Wednesday, 23 September 2026.MEC Matika also donated music equipment in Steinkopf and Port Nolloth as part of his department’s build-up towards the Provincial Heritage Day celebrations on 24 September.
He was joined by Richtersveld Mayor, Cllr Cornell Knoph, and other government officials.The multi-purpose Combi Court caters for basketball, netball, volleyball, tennis and five-a-side soccer, and will restore the dignity of local Eksteenfontein youth who have had to resort to dusty streets for sporting activities.Addressing the community, MEC Matika thanked Mayor Knoph for his dedication to serving the community.
