The Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform in-conjuction with SaamTrek, Saamwerk Farmers, Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development and various stakeholders held a successful workshop in Kimberley in the Sol Plaatjie District Municipality. Saamtrek Saamwerk Chairperson Mr Sehularo Sehularo outlined that the significance of such workshop was to prune and sharpen farmers to farm successful and productively and also to improve their produce with the main aim of making profit.
Mr Sehularo also highlighted that as farming is a business, it is imperative that farmers must know what opportunities are there in various sectors.
“Accessing opportunities will make it possible for farmers to be in the production value chain. This will also assist in producing what the market wants and will be ready for the market, too.” Hence the theme “Opportunities In The Sector”. Articulated Mr Sehularo Sehularo.

Unit Director Mr Dan Kekana presented on Cannabis/Hemp Development while Mr Tebogo Kadinda from Farmer Support touched on Comprehensive Agricultural Support Program (CASP/ILLIMA/LETSEMA GRANT)

Meanwhile, farmers welcomed the insightful information presented to them, as such information will assist them to grow from smaller holders to commercial farmers – also present them with ample opportunities in the value chain and exporting of their produce.
The Saamtrek SaamWerk Farmers marched on the slogan “We work the Land, we feed the nation, we lead others follow, where about 80 farmers attended the workshop.
