Wu Peng, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Tang Changan, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Cape Town, Police Counsellor Tsering, Police Officer Wang Shaofeng and Police Officer Tan Hao recently visited the Nelson Mandela Bay Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Centre and conducted research on Nelson Mandela Bay and East London.
Chen Dunci, director of the Nelson Mandela Bay Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Center in South Africa and president of the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, together with consultant Wei Chengjin, CEO Chen Wu, CEO Zhang Jie, and deputy director Chen Yinghe warmly received Ambassador Wu and his delegation.
During the visit, Ambassador Wu Peng also visited the FAW and BAIC factories in South Africa, and held a symposium on the safety of overseas Chinese with General Mene, Director General and Deputy Director of the Eastern Cape Provincial Police Department. At the same time, the research team also visited Chinatown, Chinese shops and other places to understand the survival and development of the Chinese community.
Overseas, the Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Centre has always been a warm haven for mutual help. The Chinese ambassador to South Africa visited the Nelson Mandela Bay Police-Community Cooperation Centre to learn more about the center’s efforts in safeguarding the safety of overseas Chinese and promoting community harmony, and asked them about their living conditions in South Africa.
The visit of Ambassador Wu and his entourage is not only a high affirmation of the work of the Police-Community Cooperation Center, but also a strong support from the motherland for overseas Chinese.
Wu said, “We believe that with the care and support of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in South Africa, the Police-Community Cooperation Center will continue to play a role as a bridge to protect the safety of every overseas Chinese and contribute to building a more harmonious community environment.”
