Kimberley
MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Mr. Mangaliso Matika has announced members of DSAC entity boards who have been appointed to serve the entities for the next three years. The announcement was made during the new boards introductory meeting with MEC Matika in Kimberley this evening, Thursday 01 October 2026. The meeting was also attended by Head of Department Adv. Thulani Binase and other senior departmental officials.
MEC Matika has used the gathering to outline his vision to newly appointed members of the boards which some have gone for 12 years without properly constituted structures. He has challenged them to sustain DSAC’s two consecutive clean audits and to ensure that it translate into improved service delivery.
“We are announcing these boards at the right time just a few days before Local Government Elections. Make sure that we join hands with municipalities… and therefore your programmes will have to talk to municipal IDPs of new councils.” MEC Matika said.
The new board members will soon be convened to elect its leadership and craft a programme of action including clear roles and responsibilities.
The MEC told his audience that the department is in the process of finalizing arrangements that will ensure alignment of the Sports Authority with South African Sports, Confederation, Olympic and Paralympic Committee, SASCOC.
