Premier Dr Zamani Saul has officially turned the sod for the construction of the state-of-the-art R12.8 million Ba Ga Bareki Traditional Council Office.The Premier was accompanied by the MEC for CoGHSTA, Mr Lebogang Motlhaping, and the MEC responsible for Women, Youth, Persons with Disabilities, Sport, Arts and Culture, Ms Maruping Lekwene, alongside Kgosi Bareki and the Batlharo Ba Ga Bareki Traditional Council.
The Batlharo Ba Ga Bareki Traditional Council has been without a Traditional Council Office for over ten years after the previous building was demolished due to asbestos contamination. The delegation was presented with the full layout plan for the new facility.The modern office complex will include an auditorium, an amphitheatre, a traditional court and a youth centre.
In his remarks, Premier Saul reiterated Government’s commitment to building five traditional council offices for Dikgosi, emphasising the good relations Government enjoys with traditional leadership and how this partnership is valued.
