The Executive Mayor of Dawid Kruiper Municipality Cllr. David Kazi. has called on all political parties to campaign in good faith during the upcoming local government elections. Speaking at a recent council meeting in the D.K.M Council Chambers in Upington, the Mayor addressed representatives of all parties currently serving in council.
The Mayor urged parties to uphold the Electoral Code of Conduct, which prohibits political violence, intimidation and threats against other parties, the Electoral Commission, members of the public and the media.The code also requires parties to recognise the authority of the Electoral Commission and to cooperate with the police in investigating election-related crimes and violence.

The Mayor further appealed to parties to avoid making false accusations against one another and to refrain from personal attacks during the campaign.Councillors were also asked to take collective responsibility for council decisions taken over the past five years.”Take joint responsibility for the successes and failures of the past five years. Accept the results of the election or challenge the result through the proper channels,” the Mayor said.
