The Dawid Kruiper Municipality has officially secured National Treasury approval for its second consecutive 33.3% Eskom debt write-off tranche. This milestone follows the municipality’s initial success as the first local authority in the Northern Cape to qualify for the National Treasury Municipal Debt Relief Programme.

The approval confirms that the municipality has maintained compliance with the programme’s stringent criteria. This includes the consistent and timeous payment of its current Eskom account for another 12-month cycle. “Securing this second debt write-off is clear evidence of our disciplined financial management, despite a tough economic climate,” said the Executive Mayor of Dawid Kruiper Municipality, Mr David Kazi.
