MEC for COGHSTA, Bentley Vass and the Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Tandi Mahambehlala, and the Executive Mayor of Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality, Councillor Rhoode Itumeleng, embarked on a door-to-door handover of title deeds to the rightful owners in Colesberg, in the Umsobomvu Local Municipality, situated in the Pixley Ka Seme District (Northern Cape) as part of the Title Deeds Fridays Campaign.
This campaign seeks to restore dignity, strengthen tenure security, and promote economic empowerment for beneficiaries. The Title Deeds Fridays Campaign was relaunched in August 2025 to mobilise all stakeholders to support the Title Deeds Restoration Programme (TDRP).
MEC Vass said,”As the Northern Cape, we have stepped up our efforts to ensure that we deliver as many title deeds to the rightful beneficiaries across the Province. The Title Deeds Restoration Programme must translate into a process of the rapid transfer of property ownership to beneficiaries, enabling them to participate in the economy, and ensuring security of tenure. As the government, we have invested a lot to ensure that these title deeds are delivered to beneficiaries at no cost, because the government covers the costs of registration and transfer’’.
One of the happy beneficiaries, Xoliswa Hoshe, said that she was appreciative of the title deed, which proves that she is the official and legally registered owner of her property.
Deputy Minister Mahambehlala, reiterated her support to the Northern Cape Province and said that she will continue to mobilise for support for the success of the Title Deeds Restoration Programme (TDRP), that seeks to ensure that over 80 000 title deeds are registered and transferred to beneficiaries by 2030.
