The Free State Department of Public Works a& Infrastructure recently received the to its assert register, the Naledi Sun Hotel. The Hotel was under the asset data base of the National Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and since the hand over now, it is fully under the asset data of the Free State Provincial Government that is managed by the Department of Public Works & Infrastructure.
Everyone is in high spirits with this move:
“We are so excited and looking forward to see this facility operate and work again as that will create the much needed work opportunities for the people of Thaba Nchu,” highlighted Moipone one of the locals in Thaba Nchu.
“As the Department, we welcome the transfer of the facility to us, as the FSPG, remember also that we manage and administer the asset register on behalf of the FS Provincial Government and we will do everything possible to make sure that, the Government properties are safe, well maintained, they contribute to work creation, they stimulate economic growth etc,” said MEC Mance when the facility was handed to her Department, (Public Works & Infrastructure).
Immediate remedial action:
The facility was in a serious bad state when it was handed over to the Free State Department of Public Works and Infrastructure both internally and externally.
In a statement the department said MEC Mance had immediately instructed for an immediate cleaning overhaul where the House Keeping Unit dispatched its resources unwaveringly, opening those doors and windows that have been closed for years giving the facility the much needed spring-clean, the works and mainteinance team also gathered their energies and stopped the flow of water that was uncontrollable from a reservoir tank located inside the yard, the landscaping teams and EPWP Participants joined by colleagues from the department of Agriculture made sure, the grass and bushes within the yard precinct are well cut and trees are pruned properly.
The department also has its security personnel making patrols in the facility to make sure that, there is no vandalism taking place.
Future Plans for the facility:
The Department has seriously noted and has taken the sentiments and views of the people of Thaba Nachu seriously when they shared that, they would appreciate for the facility to offer sustainable work to the people of Thaba Nchu.
Since updates were shared on the social media by the department as a means of updating the community of Mangaung on the developments, the citizens of Mangaung wish for their Government to bring the facility back to life and that, it should be seen and become the driver of economic growth and work creation.
The Department as indicated, just accepted the facility back to its asset data base and will over time keep the community informed of the future plans for the Hotel. A desired business model for the facility will be evaluated by the Department at the right time and the necessary pronouncements be made on how the facility will contribute to the economic growth of the area of Thaba Nchu.
Tangible plans and clearly outlined vision for this historic beacon of hope will be shared with the community of Mangaung especially Thaba Nchu so that, such prospects can benefit and bring a meaningful contribution in changing the lives of the people of “Stiba” for the better.”
