The recent success of the Northern Cape flagship music festival, Diamonds and Dorings, exceeded expectations. The festival was hosted over the Easter Weekend and saw throngs of jazz revelers from all over the country gracing these shores. The festival simply dubbed ‘The Return 2024’ was spearheaded by the Northern Cape provincial government under the auspices of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
This year’s rendition re-emerged after it was stopped previously due to the Covid 19 outbreak. The event organizers surely delivered a musical experience that has been sorely missed over the years. Artists including headliner Mandisi Dyantjies and the elegant Judith Sephuma who were in their usual element kept the revelers on the dance floor with their hit songs laced with African Rhythm.
One of the Jazz lovers Sam Mofokeng who had travelled all the way from the Free State said, “This was a wonderful event, the performers were in their best, a few areas of improvement are needed here and there but overall we had a good jol. We are looking forward to a bigger and better comeback in 2025.”
Local acts including DEEKAMO also did not disappoint struting their stuff much to the enthusiasm of a jubilant crowd. The event featured scintillating live performances, red-hot jazz and once again proven itself as a premier entertainment event.
