MEC Bentley Vass responsible for the Department of COGHSTA, handed over ten (10) BNG (Breaking New Ground) houses, to some of the beneficiaries at the Wrenchville 69 Housing Project, in Wrenchville, in the Gasegonyana Local Municipality, (John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality), on 25 June 2025.
MEC Vass was joined by the Speaker of the JTG District, Councillor Aiseng, the Mayor of Gamagara Local Municipality, Councillor Roman, and Councillors Phillips and Moagi from the Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality.
MEC Vass said ‘’This is testimony that this government continues to address challenges of housing in the Province. Tomorrow, we will be handing over houses in Deben, in the Gamagara Local Municipality and proceed to Segwaneng, in the Joe Morolong Local Municipality, to hand over houses to beneficiaries of the 1 Billion Rand Housing Project, currently underway in the Joe Morolong Municipality’’.
Vass continued to say ‘’As enjoined by Section 26 of the Constitution, we want to ensure that everyone has access to adequate housing, within our available resources’’.
The Department of COGHSTA, hand over the houses as soon as they are completed, to avoid vandalism and to ensure that the beneficiaries take ownership of their houses immediately.
The Northern Cape Provincial Government is committed to eradicating the housing backlog in the province, through the building of houses in all the Districts.
