Afrikan Native Travel successfully hosted a groundbreaking Sustainable Tourism Workshop on February 26-27, 2025, at the historic Waaikhoek Church Wesley International Heritage Site. The event, focused on promoting sustainable tourism practices, drew a diverse group of tourism professionals, exhibitors, and thought leaders from across the Free State province.
The two-day practical workshop featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including the Deputy Minister of Tourism honorable Ms Makhotso Sotyu, Ms. Balentine, representing Cathseta, who delivered the keynote address. Her insights into the intersection of tourism and sustainability emphasized the need for a holistic approach to preserving local cultures and environments. In addition, Dr. De Klerk from the Central University of Technology shared her expertise in the field, providing valuable perspectives on the role of education and innovation in the tourism sector.
The workshop was further enriched by the participation of various subject matter specialists who engaged attendees in discussions, presentations, and hands-on activities. A central feature of the event was the exhibition of tourism products from businesses and organizations throughout the Free State, offering attendees the chance to explore local offerings and forge connections within the industry.
