It was a beautiful day. Not even the drizzling rain could dampen the electrifying mood as Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae delivered her much anticipated maiden State of the Province Address.
Clad in a bright peach dress, the Premier looked every bit the star of the show. The belle of the ball. As she strutted towards the podium, with an unmistakable spring in her step, the ululation pierced through the venue.
Tailing her was the Speaker of the Legislature, Mxolisi Dukwana. Then the business of the day started. Standing in front of nearly 1000 people, she effortlessly unpacked what the government had in store for the citizens of the province.
That included provision of basic services, job creation, eradication of crime, supporting local businesses and a host of other important matters. Her speech was well received. The constant applause from attendants confirmed that the people welcomed the speech. And rightly so.
It was rich in content and tugged at the heartstrings. What is left now is for government to deliver on promises made.
With Premier Letsoha-Mathae at the helm, there is no doubt that, that will be achieved.
