Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality has been cooperating with LG Seta and the Chinese Culture Centre to facilitate an exchange and skills development programme in China for a period of 6 months for unemployed youth, SMME’s and BCMM employees.
The 21 candidates jetted off to China on Wednesday 27 November 2024. Executive Mayor Princess Faku encouraged the successful candidates to take the opportunities ahead. “The programme will provide a unique opportunity for these 21 participants to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience in China.”
“This is not just an opportunity for personal development but a chance to bring back knowledge and skills that will benefit our community and our city for many years to come,” she said.
She added that the opportunity is testament to the partnership the City has with Wuhan.
“You will be the face of our city in Wuhan, and your achievements will be a testament to the strength of our partnerships and the commitment of our municipality to fostering growth, innovation, and development,” said Faku.
To commemorate this momentous occasion in BCMM’s history, the Metro hosted a Send-Off Ceremony for the candidates at East London Golf Club.
