The South African Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Center held the Outstanding Police Commendation Conference on 20th of December 2024, which was attended by Consul General Pan Qingjiang and Deputy Consul General Zhou Yujiang of the Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg, Lieutenant General Moralera, Commander of the VIP Security Service of the South African Police, Chairman of the Gauteng Police-Community Cooperation Forum, Marcellera, and heads of police stations and police representatives in the Joburg area.
Consul General Pan Qingjiang said that he was very happy to review the efforts made in the year, the achievements and the experience of the year, and gather strength. On behalf of the embassy and consulates, he thanked the cadres and members of the South African Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Center for their perseverance and sincere enthusiasm and passion for protecting the safety of overseas Chinese.
He said,“I would like to thank the South African police at all levels for attaching great importance to the protection of Chinese citizens and institutions and the safety of the Chinese community and taking positive measures.”
Mr. Pan stressed that in 2025, the Consulate General in Joburg will further strengthen communication, coordination, mutual assistance and cooperation with the police at all levels in South Africa, further strengthen the contact with the South African Chinese Police and Community Cooperation Center and other overseas Chinese communities, and make new and greater efforts and contributions to jointly safeguarding the safety of overseas Chinese and escorting the “golden age of Central South Africa”.
Director Li Xinzhu expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Chinese embassy and consulates in South Africa for their guidance and support to the police and civilian center over the past year, and expressed his sincere gratitude to the police departments at all levels for the protection given to overseas Chinese on behalf of the Chinese community in South Africa.
Director Li said that the annual commendation meeting for outstanding police officers is a high respect for the police officers who have worked hard and performed well in the past year, and in the new year, the police and the public center are willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with the police and work together to crack down on crimes in various places.
In his speech, Lieutenant General Molalla expressed the importance of the Chinese community and the South African Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Center in assisting the police in fighting crime and maintaining social peace, and looked forward to the two sides continuing to strengthen cooperation and jointly make more contributions to the peace of South Africa.
At the commendation meeting on the same day, the South African Chinese Police-Community Cooperation Center prepared televisions, microwave ovens and gift boxes, and gave key rewards to a number of policemen, who quickly dispatched police officers to rescue the hostages in a case of kidnapping of Chinese businessmen at the beginning of this month, and also arrested all the kidnappers and protected the lives and property of the victims.
