Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha – Mathae recently held a meeting with the Consul – General of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Pan Qinjiang.
The meeting took place at the Free State house, in Mangaung. It was Premier Letsoha – Mathae’s first meeting since she assumed her duties as the Premier in June this year. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of common interest.
Premier Letsoha – Mathae used the opportunity to express her gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for the donation of 11 generators. The donation took place recently in Kwa – Zulu Natal province and the generators will assist municipalities across the province which are currently faced with electricity challenges.
“We are humbled and appreciative to have hosted Consul – General and his delegation. Our relationship with the People’s Republic of China goes back many years and we share a common vision of empowering and emancipating our people from the bondages of poverty and unemployment.
Our friends have demonstrated their commitment to strengthening our ties by investing in our province and providing employment to many of our people. We are pleased by their commitment to increase their investment in the Free State, which will result in the creation of much needed jobs,” said Premier Letsoha – Mathae.
“One of the problems we have is shortage of engineers in our municipalities who quit our institutions for greener pastures. These are some of the areas of concern that I believe when explored collaboratively the solution can be found to assist some of our distressed municipalities in the province,” said Premier Letsoha – Mathae.
Consul – General Qinjiang said he was privileged to have met Premier Letsoha – Mathae and extended an invite to the Premier and Members of the Executive Council present to visit them in Johannesburg.
