The Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was held from September 4 to 6, 2024, under the theme “Joining Hands to Advance Modernisation and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.”
Amongst others the summit focused on reviewing the progress of China-Africa relations and strengthening cooperation. Two significant documents, the Beijing Declaration and the Action Plan, were adopted unanimously.
The summit also marked a new phase in China-Africa relations, elevating them to an all-weather community with a shared future. China established or elevated strategic partnerships with 30 African countries. The summit emphasized the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilisation Initiative3.
Economic pundits the relationship between China and Africa, built over nearly 70 years, now at its strongest. This progress reflects the commitment of over 2.8 billion people to work together amid global transformations2.
The summit highlighted the deepening of China-Africa ties and set the stage for future cooperation and development.
