Friday, 23rd August 2024, marked a significant milestone for the Northern Cape Urban TVET College (NCUTVET)
The Deputy Minister Mr. Buti Manamela of Higher Education officially launched TVET Month at Phatsimang Campus, under the inspiring theme “Invest in TVET for the Future and for Innovation.”
In his keynote address, the Deputy Minister emphasized the critical role of TVET in driving innovation and economic growth. He highlighted that investing in TVET is not just about equipping students with technical skills but also about fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving. “Our future depends on the skills and innovations of our youth. By investing in TVET, we are investing in a brighter, more innovative future,” he stated.
This significant event saw the participation of 15 schools, highlighting the growing importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in shaping the future of South Africa’s youth.
The program included a series of engaging activities, such as:
– A keynote address by Deputy Minister Mr. Buti Manamela (pictured) on “The Future of TVET in South Africa: Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities”
– A panel discussion on “Industry Partnerships and Job Readiness: Preparing Students for the Modern Workforce”
– An exhibition of student projects and innovations, showcasing the college’s expertise
The launch event was a resounding success, attracting over 800 students, educators, and industry stakeholders. It highlighted the critical role TVET plays in equipping learners with practical skills and knowledge to succeed in the modern workforce.
“I’m excited to be part of the TVET program at NCUTVET, as it has given me the skills and confidence to pursue my dreams,” said NCUTVET Student, “The hands-on training and industry exposure have been invaluable in preparing me for the job market.”
TVET is the backbone of our country’s economic development, and we must continue to invest in it. “NCUTVET College is a shining example of how TVET institutions can make a meaningful impact in their communities.
As National TVET Month continues, NCUTVET College is poised to showcase its commitment to providing high-quality TVET programs, empowering students to become skilled professionals and contributing to the country’s economic growth.
