Writes Kagisho Duggy Makoloi

The revolution is under attack, we are the ones who should drive this revolution, but we happen to be the same ones betraying it.

Africans who are Black in particular, supports White Political Parties in their numbers; while Whites are united in supporting their White Parties in their numbers, look at Democratic Alliance membership breakdown and think this argument through.

Africans who are Black are divided into more than 80 Political Parties and more than 50 Community Forums, contesting each other and dividing votes which should serve them collectively; this is a betrayal of the revolution.

It is even worse because Africans who are Black are fighting amongst each other for positions even when they are in the same political party, there are factions and favouritism amongst the same members of the same political party; this creates enemies and hatred amongst those that should be working together to advance revolution and taking over from White political parties who are minority in terms of population, yet taking over because of our divisions.

My argument stems from the results of the recent By-Elections in the Country, my research further suggests that White political parties are growing and taking over from Black political parties even in Black dominated areas; while if u would combine what Black political parties get in those Black areas, u will realise that they would take over.

The most dangerous aspect of all that puts the revolution under attack, is the arrangement of “Government of National Unity” known as “GNU”; this arrangement is aimed and intended to take back the power to the former oppressors, Democratic Alliance is the most beneficiary of all and it is utilizing this optimally to dominate political space.

If this analysis is not tested, we will see its results when results of 2026 Local Government Elections will be announced; Democratic Alliance will be winners of all areas dominated by Whites and will also win some areas dominated by Blacks (like they have won now on the recent By-Election), where they will not be winning, they will surely secure Proportional Representative “PR” seats and as such, they will run many Local, Districts and Metro Municipalities.

I am raising this because Local Government Elections uses a combination of Winner takes all or first-passed-the-post system and proportional representation system, this is even made worse by the way our Wards are drawn which is better defined as Gerrymandering; the system that African National Congress “ANC” has implemented over the years to advantage it, but now failing dismally.

Let me close it here and allow those who has interest to research and analyze this argument of mine, African political parties dominated by Blacks must wake up, smell the coffee and start working together; stop factional politics, divide and rule attitude, stop marginalizing and isolating each other, perhaps advocate for Africans and Black political parties unity.

Lastly, there is truth in what Biko once said “we are on our own” because we are our own biggest enemies, we betray the revolution that suppose to liberate and unite us; after 2026 Local Government Elections it will be a last long nail to bury African Blacks political parties in 2029 General Elections (when we don’t wake up).
