The MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Mr. Mangaliso Matika in fulfilling his legislative and Executive Oversight convened the departmental senior managers and representatives of various entities to a meeting at Brian Hermanus building.
The meeting was aimed at assessing the performance of the department in relation to its service delivery imperatives. Furthermore the meeting focused on tracking progress on various interventions undertaken and commitments made at various platforms.
This session also served to check the readiness of the department and its entities as they anticipate to go give account at the portfolio committee this coming Monday.

During his opening remarks, MEC Matika emphasised tolerance and respect for each other within the department. He also pointed out that our focus should be about contributing in changing people’s lives.
MEC expressed his gratitude to the team under the leadership of Head of Department Adv. Thulani Binase for achieving a clean audit during the 2025/26 financial year. He spoke strongly against entities that have failed to account before the Portfolio Committee during the previous years.
MEC Matika further indicate that the process of the appointment of the boards to the entities is at its final stages. The conclusion of the boards appointment process will also influence a move that will see the re-deployment of some of administrators from those entities.
