South Africa got down to business in Kampala, Uganda, on Monday as the countdown to their opening match of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) this week continues.
Coach Molefi Ntseki had his first training session in Uganda on Monday after the team arrived in the capital city on Sunday afternoon, and his charges, who started the camp under chilly Winter conditions in Johannesburg last month, had to adapt to the warm and tropical weather climate in this East African country as they shook off the travel cobwebs.
Group C rivals Algeria, Niger, Guinea and hosts Uganda played their opening matches on Monday and Ntseki used the opportunity to travel to the stadium with his technical staff after training to take a closer look at the teams he will be strategizing against in the coming days.

The CHAN tournament is being held in East Africa in three countries – Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda – between 2-30 August, 2025 and Ntseki’s charges will be based in Kampala during the group stages of the tournament.
The team has been in camp for almost two weeks now and Ntseki has said while getting the personnel he wanted for this tournament was a challenge, the players he has in camp with him have strongly put their hands up and they are determined to represent the country with style and grace from Friday when they play their opening match against Algeria.
