Marrumo Gallants FC have parted ways with their head coach, Dan Malesela and Molefi Ntseki who was a technical director.
The decision to release the duo came as a result of the struggle to improve the team’s league standing, the team has revealed in the statement.
The announcement which does not come as a surprise was made after Gallants -3-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in a pulsating Betway premiership encounter on Wednesday night at the Dr Molemela stadium.
Sundra Govender and Ducan Lechesa, assistant coaches, will remain on a driving seat while the team are still in search of the new coach.
Lechesa and Govender don’t have long to prepare the team as they are faced with an early assignment on Sunday when they go on a date with Polokwane City in a league encounter at the Dr Molemela stadium in Bloemfontein. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.
The two teams come into this clash with fresh wounds after they both suffered defeats during the week. Gallants were beaten at home by Mamelodi Sundowns while Polokwane narrowly lost 1-0 to Magesi FC.
Gallants are in the relegation mix with Richard Bay, Magesi and Royal AM respectively. They are currently third from bottom with 15 points after 17 games. Magesi are second from bottom with 14 points from a same number of games with Royal AM who are rooted at the bottom, with 8 points in 11 games.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa will have to get maximum points against Polokwane if they are to keep their stay in the PSL. With the league games coming thick and fast. They will face Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 1 March 2025 in Bloemfontein.
Gallants who have struggles to score goals will pin their hopes on the likes of Daniel Msendali, Junior Zindoga and Monde Mpambaniso to find the back of the net and they will have to make sure that they close the back door to deny the opponents from scoring.
However, it won’t be easy as City also has the likes of the wanted Oswin Apolisi, Reagan, Daniel Raymond and Manuel Kambala, who can make things happen for their team. City are third on the log table with 29 points in 18 games. They are 16 points behind the log leaders and four points behind Pirates who are second.
