As part of the Free State Provincial Government (FSPG) back to school campaign, the department of Public Works recently visited three local schools. The departmental deployment to the schools was led by MEC. Dibolelo Mance who was in her usual element. There was fanfare at Batho Primary School, Lenyora la Thuto Secondary School and St Barnard’s High School as the schools welcomed this generous gesture by the department.
The Department donated school shoes, sporting kits and equipment including Maths and Science kits to the identified schools.
The central message during this time of the year is that of encouraging learners to gear-up and be ready for the new academic year, 2025. “As we encourage our leaners to be focused to the task at hand, which is that of focusing their energies on the schoolwork from the first day at school, we noted that, we need to support them more,” said MEC Mance.
“When we conducted the same exercise last year, 2024, our young people especially in these above listed schools indicated to us that they need assistance with regards to sport kits and other equipment’s to stimulate their ability to concentrate in class,” added MEC Mance.
