Good reception, friendly smiles, warm atmosphere and tranquility awaits visitors in a small town of Vosburg, the jewel of the karoo. In the Karoo lies a jewel, a little place with golden-hearted people. As part of the Karoo Highlands Route, Vosburg is located in the Bo-Karoo region of the Northern Cape Province. It is situated halfway between Britstown and Carnarvon on the R384 road.<\/p>\n

As part of the tourism month promotion the Northern Cape Department of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism hosted a media tour of the area with a special focus on the Botanical Garden that is under construction in the area.<\/p>\n

The garden is a brainchild of three hard working women; Anna Fourie, Tina Coombes and Loraine Botha who had taken it upon themselves to make sure that the garden is fenced, revamped and are also providing general care of its indigenous plants . After receiving permission from the local municipality to adopt the piece of land where the garden is based the ladies has since never looked back.<\/p>\n
Said Fourie, \u201cthe town has a lot to offer to visitors. Vosburg boasts more than 22 buildings that are national monuments in the town. We call upon tourists from different parts of the country to visit our area.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Me Fourie, they are committed to preserving indigenous vegetation whilst also eliminating invasive plants and according to them the exercise has been very rewarding.<\/p>\n
The garden is open to the local public and visitors, and also offer guided tours offering an opportunity to provide visitors with information relating to the environmental issues.<\/p>\n
