Grant in Aid is among the eighth SASSA social grants that are offered by the organization.\u00a0 Recently, SASSA has been inundated with fake messages circulating on social media\u00a0 about medical referral forms for the Grant-in-aid social grant.<\/p>\n

As an organization we are cautioning people in general against this falsehood as the Grant-in-Aid has its own requirements just like all other grants and it does not need any medical forms as purported in fake messages recently. For one to qualify for this grant, they must be in receipt of an Older Persons, Disability or a War Veteran\u2019s grants. This grant is for individuals or grant recipients who require regular attendance by another person for activities of daily living owing to his\/her physical or mental disabilities.<\/p>\n

The current fake news regarding the Grant-In-Aid is circulated through text messages and voice notes. That information is misleading and those in need of grant-in- aid are requested to go to their nearest local offices for accurate information or check the requirements on www.sassa.gov.za.
