Springbok<\/p>\n
The Northern Cape Biodiversity Stewardship Forum held a two-day workshop to deliberate on issues affecting the Forum at the Goegap Nature Reserve about 15 km outside Springbok.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the workshop was to seek ways in which the forum is to align biodiversity stewardship efforts across the province. It was also to share lessons on implementation by various initiatives in the province and begin to develop the biodiversity stewardship toolbox for the province.<\/p>\n
The Northern Cape Biodiversity Forum (NCSF) was established in 2004 by the Botanical Society of Southern Africa inconjuction with Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform and other Conservation organisations.<\/p>\n
The NCSF plays an integral role in setting the foundation for the pilot phase of a consolidated biodiversity stewardship framework for the province – residing within the partnership selection.<\/p>\n
The Forum meets on a biannually basis to deliberate on several issues affecting NCSF.<\/p>\n
The second day of the workshop was strictly set aside for the Northern Cape Protected Areas Expansion Strategy’s five years review.<\/p>\n
Various Stewardship partners such as South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), Conservation South Africa (CSA), Wilderness Foundation Africa (WFA), Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), SANparks , departmental officials from different programs such as the Scientific Services, Conservation Planning attended the workshop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
