Former Northern Cape ANC provincial chairperson, John Block (pictured) has denied having joined the Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party). This follows social media posts congratulating him on joining the MK Party. Posts regarding him joining the party were making the rounds on X on Wednesday. But Block said the claims were not only false but represented a deliberate and desperate attempt by individuals who did not his unwavering commitment to the ANC.<\/p>\n

He said in a letter: \u201cThe timing of these allegations is particularly suspect, reminiscent of past incidents where baseless rumours surfaced immediately after significant political announcements. Just as before, when similar fabrications emerged after the former president’s announcement, I must clarify: I have not joined the MK party. Such claims are entirely unfounded and designed to mislead.<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout my life, I have been steadfast in my allegiance to the ANC. Those who know me understand that I do not follow trends; rather, I strive to initiate positive change and progress.\u201d Block said his absence from the public sphere was a personal choice, which allowed him to cherish valuable time with his family after dedicating himself to public service for many years.<\/p>\n
He said it was disappointing that his name had been tarnished in such a manner within the mass democratic movement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese baseless accusations not only affect me but also impact those close to me. I urge the media to exercise diligence and verify facts before disseminating unsubstantiated stories that can harm reputations and mislead the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf circumstances dictate my return to public life, it will be communicated openly and transparently. Until then, my allegiance remains steadfastly with the ANC, which has been my political home and guiding light throughout my career.\u201d<\/p>\n
