The saying that goes \u201cdon\u2019t cry over spilt milk\u201d is a classic English proverb that warns people not to worry about things that cannot be undone, becomes extremely relevant as the ANC seeks to heighten its revolutionary gears towards the national democratic society. It is the duty of the leadership of a revolutionary party to constantly engage with the masses, members and non-members alike, in the pursuit of hegemony.<\/div>\n

In instances where such attempts fail, either through poor execution by the leadership or through the determination by members and non-members to deviate from the party, ours is to look forward, refuse to cry over spilt milk, and look at other methods to elevate the pursuit of political and ideological hegemony.<\/div>\n

I am not, and have never been convinced that people could leave the party, openly lobby for its downfall, and come back into the party as if nothing happened. Granted, we all are susceptible to poor judgement, but it cannot be that one comes back to assume the same position, or derive the same privileges, after consistently opposition the ANC\u2019s revolutionary ideals, openly.<\/div>\n

The practice of defecting and throwing toys is not new in our revolution. It predates the current democracy. Organizations like the PAC, UDM, etc are a product of those who formed splinter parties. Not so long ago, President Thabo Mbeki got so angry that he decided to throw away toys, going to the extent to saying he won\u2019t campaign for the ANC under Zuma. Fortunately, he didn\u2019t leave the ANC or even lobby for another party. He has since realized that his actions were childish, and is currently campaigning for the ANC.<\/div>\n

Unlike President Mbeki, Jacob Zuma has not only throwed away his toys, he has also burnt them. The ANC has correctly taken a decision not to recognize his as a former President of the party due to his ludicrous actions. How can a liberation party parade a member of the opposition in its history books? It doesn\u2019t make sense. Ace Magashule has also ejected himself from the history books of the ANC.<\/div>\n

I respect their decisions, but they must know that their standings in the revolution have changed. It is not true that this is the ANC of President Cyril Ramaphosa. This is the party of the people. During both Zuma and Magashule\u2019s leadership, there were still challenges. They also had weaknesses that negatively affected the revolution. For example, it is common knowledge that their offspring became part of the companies owned by capitalists that benefitted from state procurement to the detriment of the revolution.<\/div>\n

During their time, land was not returned to the rightful owners, and the influence of capital was not eliminated in the state. It was wrong for President Mbeki to argue that he couldn\u2019t campaign for the ANC of Zuma. It is equally wrong for Zuma to assert that he won\u2019t campaign for the ANC of President Ramaphosa. It is senseless for people to defect and expect that tomorrow, when they burn their t-shirts and don ANC regalia, the movement must give them privileges. There is no evidence that shows that those who have previously de-campaigned the ANC, brought back following when they returned to the ANC.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

They must therefore be isolated and focus be on loyal, dedicated and selfless activists who are prepared to brave the cold weathers to serve the revolution. I will be going to cast my vote in favour of the ANC, not because I have been forced to, or because I have only experienced joy from the movement since I joined. I will vote for the ANC because I appreciate the basis for the formation, and the continued existence of the ANC. No individual can make me to despite or leave the ANC, no matter how much of a sellout they are.<\/div>\n

Formed in 1912, the ANC is intended to unite blacks in general, and Africans in particular towards the creation of a united, prosperous, non-sexist, non-racial South Africa, where all races can live in harmony, without one class, gender or race oppressing another. The ANC was formed to ensure that the struggle against land dispossession is pursued until the land belongs to all who work it. The ANC is the most potent tool for the total liberation of all South Africans.<\/div>\n
