Political parties are set to go head-to-head at the Northern Cape\u2019s eMthanjeni Local Municipality Ward 3 by-elections scheduled for Wednesday (24 April 2024) following the resignation of African National Congress (ANC) Councilor Sandile Makhandula.<\/p>\n
The ANC in the region is rallying behind Brydo Mzingisi Mvenya (pictured) to replace Makhandula in a highly charged by-election happening just a few weeks before the National Elections scheduled for 29 May 2024. Mvenya is no stranger to community involvement including participating in sporting programmes.<\/p>\n
Mvenya told The Pixley Independent, \u201cI\u2019m confident of the trust the local communities have on the ANC as the only leader of the society. My hope for the future is to see our community being successful in terms of service delivery. \u00a0We need to rally all necessary resources in order to ensure that local communities get better services.\u201d<\/p>\n
Once again these by elections will bring to the fore issues related to service delivery with municipalities including Emthanjeni often struggling with maintaining and upgrading infrastructure such as water supply systems, roads, and electricity grids. However, Mvenya is no stranger to local challenges and he believes working together with other local and provincial stakeholders most of these problems can be solved.<\/p>\n
Upon election Mvenya has promised to work hand in glove with other local structures be it government or non-governmental in order to ensure the wellbeing of his community.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has expressed its 100 percent state of readiness. According to the IEC all 3 voting stations are secured and all staff members well trained.<\/p>\n
Northern Cape ANC Chairperson Zamani Saul is expected to address a Siyanqoba Rally at Nonzwakazi Township on Saturday, 20 April 2024 as part of what the party calls the victory campaign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
