The trapped workers, whose lives are hanging in the balance, have been without communication for over 24 hours, sparking an urgent search and rescue operation.<\/p>\n
Sol Plaatje Municipality’s Emergency Services responded promptly, dispatching four emergency vehicles and 11 personnel to the scene. “We pledge our solidarity in this time of unimaginable distress,” said a spokesperson, echoing the sentiment of the community.<\/p>\n
The rescue operation, underway at an estimated depth of 890 metres, is being led by Ekapa Mine’s management and specialist resources. The Sol Plaatje Emergency Services remains on standby, ready to provide support if needed.<\/p>\n
