A Clean Environment Is a Catalyst for Investment and Employment<\/div>\n

The Clean Cities and Towns Campaign is far more than a government initiative but a clarion call to action for every resident of the Free State. It is against this background that, on Tuesday, 05 August 2025, Deputy President Paul Mashatile, Premier of the Free State Province MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, and Mangaung Metro Municipality Executive Mayor Councillor Gregory Nthatisi spearheaded a vigorous rollout of the Clean Cities and Towns campaign in Wards 14 and 45 in Mangaung, Bloemfontein.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The day began in Grassland, where the delegation led by the Deputy President rolled up their sleeves to clear multiple illegal dumping sites; visible scars of urban decay. Simultaneously, teams worked to close potholes in Heidedal, restoring dignity to the very roads that connects the economy and also serves as a link to families and places of employment.<\/div>\n

But the programme went deeper than clearing dirt and fixing roads. It extended into the hearts of the community.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

At an old age home in Heidedal, Deputy President Mashatile spent time with elderly residents, among them Mme Katrina Adriaanse, who recently turned 100 years old. Their smiles and stories reminded all in attendance the importance of community. This was indeed a moment even late President Nelson Mandela would have been proud of; a true expression of love and care.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The day concluded with a walkabout through an integrated government services site, opposite Norman Doubell Community Hall in the heart of Heidedal, where various departments and stakeholders came together to deliver essential services to the people of Heidedal and surrounding areas. This initiative is part of government\u2019s broader programme of taking services to the people.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
